IGOOGLE

It's been a very busy week so having a task that was a bit less complicated was a bonus. But working at Google? How could you DO that to me?? Make me watch THAT? Please send it to the Senior Managers at the State Library.

Google Book Search

Very hard to decide on 'my favourite book'. So I went for recently read and interesting book - The god delusion by Richard Dawkins. What to say about it other than it generally argues its point logically but at times does draw a bit of a long bow? That's acceptable. The logic of its underlying message is inescapable.
Google books is another source in the apparently unending sources for information about books. I'm not sure that it is any greater use than Amazon or librarything or.......

GOOGLE MAPS:

Love google maps. The directions from home to work are perfect, even to to the extent of bends in the road that aren't actually corners. Interestingly the same cars are outside my house as were there 3 weeks ago. And who cut my grass? Surprisingly the clarity of Burnie is poorer than that of some smaller towns.
And Brunswick residents clearly like their beer.
Google docs seems simple enough to access and use - if you can remember your google password. Not quite sure that there is a lot of benefit from it. It seems to be just another thing to be played with on the Net. Save documents - share documents - get yourself yet another email address - download yet more photos. Will it ever end?

Melvil Dewey is a numbers man

All the myspace library posts are fairly similar.
How could I not check out the Sarasosa Elsie Quirk Public Library? Unfortunately it wasn’t as interesting as its name suggested. Or particularly well set up.
Other Myspace pages interestingly enough run what appear to be paid advertisements – a money earner for the State Library on its web page perhaps – as well as provide opportunities for grateful users to comment positively on their library experiences. Pats on the back all round.
And check out the fat cat (or is it a cleverly disguised sheep?) at http://www.myspace.com/westmontlibrary
Lots of ads for library events as well.
And sometimes the link to myspace on your right decides not to work. VERY frustrating.

Librarything is simple to get up and running and has interesting potential.
